The Role: Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Lead, you’ll act as the technical authority for the design, development, testing and continuous improvement of electrical and electronic products from concept through to commercial delivery. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you’ll take ownership of hardware design activities, ensuring products meet customer requirements, industry standards and Viper’s high standards of engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the design, development and testing of electrical and electronic hardware.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation including specifications, schematics, test procedures and manuals.
- Research and evaluate emerging hardware technologies.
- Support the transfer of new products into manufacture.
- Work collaboratively across engineering and wider business functions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant British, European and international standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Support innovation activities, including patent submissions and technical publications.
- Communicate technical progress with stakeholders across the business.
What We Are Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You’ll ideally have:
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Electronic or a related Engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience within a hardware development environment.
- Knowledge of hardware development lifecycles and product qualification.
- Experience designing for safety and EMC compliance.
- Knowledge of isolation terra (IT) power supply systems.
- Hands-on laboratory testing experience.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
- A passion for mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.
