Are you an early‑career Business Analyst who enjoys getting close to the detail and being involved across the business? Do you like acting as the glue between users, operations, and developers, turning conversations into clear requirements and user stories? Are you looking for a practical, office‑based role where clear communication and common sense matter more than jargon or job titles?
The opportunity
This is a varied, hands‑on Technical Business Analyst role at the junior end of the BA spectrum, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail and involved across multiple areas of the business. You will act as the link between users, operations, and developers, clarifying what is needed, why it matters, and how it can realistically be delivered. This is not a pure documentation role, and not a developer position. It suits someone who communicates clearly, asks the right questions, and gets to the heart of problems. The business values plain English over jargon, pragmatic solutions over theory, and people who can adapt as priorities change.
What You Will Be Doing
- Working closely with stakeholders, operational teams, and developers to gather and clarify requirements
- Translating business needs into clear user stories, technical specifications, and design documents
- Supporting workshops and discussions to tease out requirements and challenge assumptions where needed
- Acting as the communication bridge between users and development, ensuring requirements are understood on both sides
- Creating and maintaining documentation such as:
- User stories
- Technical design documents
- Project plans and roadmaps
- Test scripts and system documentation
- Defining test scope
- Creating and executing test cases
- Logging defects and working with developers on resolution
- Answering IT support queries
- General system administration tasks
- Remote support to other offices
There is out‑of‑hours implementation testing approximately once per week, with time given back in lieu.
The technical environment (understanding over hands‑on)
You do not need to be a developer, but you do need to understand what is possible and be able to talk confidently with technical teams.
Beneficial Knowledge Includes
- Azure DevOps or ClickUp
- SQL (basic understanding)
- Awareness of technologies such as C#, Classic ASP, or Java
- Microsoft tools: Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or Kanban delivery environments
- Experience within a change control or regulated environment (for example, financial services) is advantageous.
What They Are Really Looking For
This role suits someone who is:
- Naturally curious and analytical
- Comfortable switching between BA work and support‑style tasks
- Clear, structured, and confident in written and verbal communication
- Able to explain technical ideas in plain English
- Pragmatic, flexible, and not precious about job titles
- Happy working in an office‑based environment
- Keen to learn and develop rather than specialise too early
You are the person who connects the dots, keeps people aligned, and makes sure things actually move forward.
Values & culture
This Role Sits Within a Business That Values:
- Resilience
- Adaptability
- Integrity
- Continuous improvement
People who do well here are practical, grounded, and focused on outcomes rather than process for process sake.
