Vintage Threads is the UK’s leading pre-loved premium retailer, with flagship stores in London, a concession in Selfridges, and a newly opened store in Amsterdam. With further European expansion planned throughout the year, this is a key leadership role within the business. The Covent Garden store is our strongest retail location and plays a critical role in setting the standard for the wider estate.
The Store Manager will be responsible for leading a high performing team, driving conversion and elevating product presentation while delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role requires a hands-on leader who is commercially sharp, people focused, and deeply invested in improving store performance week on week.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial Performance
- Own and drive store performance with a strong focus on conversion, average transaction value, and sell through.
- Analyse weekly trade performance and take clear actions to improve results.
- Lead weekly Monday trade calls with prepared insights, challenges, and opportunities.
- Implement commercial initiatives agreed with the General Manager and wider leadership team.
- Ensure the store consistently delivers against sales targets and KPIs.
- Product and Visual Standards
- Own the product strategy at store level, ensuring stock is well balanced, relevant, and commercially strong.
- Elevate product presentation and merchandising to maximise conversion and customer engagement.
- Lead weekly Wednesday store walk-throughs, ensuring standards are met and opportunities are actioned.
- Work closely with buying and operations teams to feedback on product performance and customer demand.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 8-10 people.
- Create a positive, high performance store culture aligned with Vintage Threads values.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and retain top retail talent.
- Deliver regular feedback, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Build clear succession plans within the store team.
- Customer Experience
- Champion an authentic, welcoming, and knowledgeable customer experience.
- Ensure the team delivers expert product knowledge and styling advice.
- Handle escalated customer issues with confidence and professionalism.
- Build strong relationships with repeat customers and local community, utilising our CRM system.
- Store Operations and Management
- Oversee all day to day store operations.
- Manage rotas and labour efficiency.
- Ensure all health and safety, security, and compliance standards are met.
- Maintain stock accuracy through effective stock control and stocktakes.
- Ensure smooth delivery processes, replenishment, and back of house organisation.
- Act as the main point of contact for the store in the absence of the General Manager.
- Proven experience as a Store Manager or strong Assistant Manager in a high volume or premium retail environment.
- A strong commercial mindset with experience improving conversion and sales performance.
- Confident people leader with a track record of developing teams.
- Strong visual and product instinct with attention to detail.
- Organised, proactive, and calm under pressure.
