Our Finance team keeps the business running smoothly. It brings together accurate reporting, thoughtful analysis and strong financial controls to help colleagues understand performance and make good decisions.

You’ll work alongside experienced finance colleagues and people across the wider business, gaining practical exposure to the day-to-day work behind a growing international organisation.

Why the role exists


The Finance Assistant is an early-career role for someone looking to build a long-term career in Finance. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day financial activities while gaining hands-on experience across reporting, month-end, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.


We’ll support you to work towards your CIMA qualification alongside the role, giving you the opportunity to put your studies into practice and take on more technical and commercially focused responsibilities as your knowledge develops.


You’ll have responsibility from the beginning, with experienced Finance colleagues around you to support your development and help you build towards the next stage of your career.

What success looks like

  • Day-to-day finance activities are completed accurately and on time.

  • Transactions, reconciliations and financial records are accurate, complete and well organised.
  • Month-end and routine reporting activities are supported within agreed deadlines.
  • You build strong working relationships and become a reliable member of the Finance team.
  • You make good progress with your CIMA studies and apply your developing knowledge in your work.
  • Your confidence and capability grow, allowing you to take on increasingly complex Finance activity.

Learning and development


  • Work towards your CIMA qualification with support from Vintage.com alongside your role.
  • Apply knowledge from your studies to real financial activity and commercial decisions within the business.
  • Take ownership of your development, balancing your professional studies with your day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Build your understanding of management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and commercial finance.
  • Seek feedback and use coaching from experienced Finance colleagues to develop your technical and professional skills.
  • Gradually take on more complex responsibilities as your knowledge and confidence grow.
  • Develop a broader understanding of how Finance supports decision-making across an international business.


What You’ll Do


Financial operations

  • Process purchase invoices, expenses and other financial transactions accurately and on time.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activity and prepare information for regular payment runs.
  • Complete routine bank, balance sheet and account reconciliations, investigating straightforward differences.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Respond to day-to-day Finance queries, following them through to resolution or escalating where appropriate.

Month-end and reporting

  • Support month-end activities and help the team meet reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare routine financial reports, schedules and supporting information.
  • Support journals, accruals and prepayments as your knowledge and experience develop.
  • Check financial information for accuracy and investigate unexpected movements or discrepancies.
  • Use Excel to reconcile, organise and analyse financial information.

Budgeting, forecasting and analysis

  • Support budgeting and forecasting by gathering and checking financial information.
  • Track actual performance against budgets and help investigate variances.
  • Assist with analysis of costs, cash flow and financial performance.
  • Identify trends or unusual movements and raise them with the appropriate colleague.
  • Develop your understanding of the commercial drivers behind our financial performance and how Finance supports business decisions.

Controls and development

  • Follow financial controls, approval processes and team procedures.
  • Handle financial and commercially sensitive information appropriately and confidentially.
  • Support the preparation of information required for audits, tax activity and other compliance requirements.
  • Work towards your CIMA qualification with support from Vintage.com and apply your learning in your day-to-day role.
  • Seek feedback, ask questions and take on greater responsibility as your technical knowledge and confidence develop.


What You’ll Bring


Essential

  • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within Finance.
  • An interest in working towards a CIMA professional qualification and the commitment to balance your studies alongside your role.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables and lookup functions.
  • A well-organised approach with the ability to manage different priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence working with financial information accurately and responsibly.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to solving straightforward problems and following queries through.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn and take on increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Confidence working independently on routine tasks while contributing positively to the wider team.

Helpful


  • Previous experience within accounts payable, accounts receivable or transactional Finance.
  • Experience completing reconciliations or supporting month-end activities.
  • Experience using accounting or financial reporting systems.
  • Previous exposure to management accounting through study or practical experience.
  • An interest in sustainability, e-commerce or growing international businesses.

Qualifications
  • A degree or other qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related subject.
