Responsible for working closely with international partners and leadership to develop a market strategy that positions the firm as a market leader and enables international practices to achieve key business goals, including increasing revenue and recognition. Serves as a senior day-to-day Business Development resource for the firm's international offices, collaborating with the wider Business Development team, operations, practice management, communications and other adjacent teams to implement marketing and business development initiatives. Supports all international practice areas, covering a range of disputes and corporate groups. Actively participates in firm-wide marketing activities and proposes, develops and executes projects and leads business development workstreams under limited supervision.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and develop meaningful and strategic business development initiatives alongside local leadership and international partners.
- Serve as a key resource for assisting, facilitating and encouraging active business development and revenue generation efforts by international partners.
- Lead on the preparation of client pitches, proposals and formal RFPs.
- Refine and implement BD infrastructure and processes, including maintaining the international office's experience database for use in marketing collateral and pitch materials.
- Manage event logistics and support international client events from inception to execution. Some international travel is required.
- Compile data and conduct research for existing, potential and key target clients; disseminate key findings; provide intelligence on conferences, speaking and sponsorship opportunities, events, CLEs, etc.
- Work with partners and other fee earners to develop and implement the Business Development/Marketing portion of business plans and ensure alignment with the firm's overall marketing strategy.
- Assist Partners in identifying the practices' competitive strengths and develop marketing plans to promote them consistently with the firm's branding strategy.
- Support Practice Management in developing annual practice budgets. Draft the BD/Marketing portion of the practice budget.
- Monitor and report on industry trends and issues affecting clients' businesses.
- Conduct comprehensive client research and analysis to support firm-wide requests.
- Update and maintain practice area content (rankings, deal descriptions, additions to practice overview materials) and distribute alerts for practice areas.
- Collaborate with Marketing/Communications teams to maintain and post website and intranet content; develop, update and distribute marketing collateral such as brochures, newsletters and advertisements.
- Create, revise and maintain attorney biographies by practice area.
- Coordinate external event sponsorships and assist in executing agreements/logistics.
- Contribute to the compilation of annual directory submissions.
- Draft correspondence; prepare and distribute external and internal communications.
- Manage and mentor a direct report on the international business development team.

Education Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
Experience
- At least seven years' experience in business or marketing in a law firm or professional services environment, including time at a manager level or equivalent.
Special Knowledge
- Superior writing, editing, organizational, project management, problem solving, analytical and research skills; ability to conceptualize and effectively communicate complex concepts to Partners and staff.
Technical Skills
- Strong technical proficiencies, particularly in CRM/contact databases, Excel, PowerPoint and on-line research databases.
