We are looking for an available Prep Artist to join our team on a fixed-term contract. You must be UK based due to project requirements. If you’re willing to commute to the studio from time to time, that’s a bonus, but it’s not essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality plates for compositing by delivering seamless paint work and clean-up solutions. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a solid understanding of VFX workflows to ensure clean, production‑ready footage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with compositors, leads, and VFX supervisors to understand project requirements and deliverables.
  • Create high-quality clean plates using paint and prep techniques.
  • Perform complex wire, rig, tracking marker, and object removals.
  • Carry out beauty work, dust and scratch removal, seam fixes, and general plate clean‑up.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical challenges related to prep work.
  • Maintain consistent communication with production teams to ensure deadlines are met.

Requirements

  • Experience in a Prep role within a VFX studio environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex paint work, including wire removals, rig removals, and clean plate creation.
  • Proficiency in Nuke, with experience in Silhouette and Mocha considered an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of compositing workflows and how prep integrates into the VFX pipeline.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work methodically while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
