Finance Assistant Opportunity With Business Partnering Focus
Support the Finance Business Partner (FBP) with financial control, compliance, reporting and analysis for the Business. Provide accurate and timely financial information to help the business and monitor performance.
Key Responsibilities – Assistant Finance Business Partner
General Accounting
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner and in accordance with group and accounting rules.
- Reconcile balance sheet figures.
- Monitor and report off‑balance sheet commitments.
- Communicate to staff on deadlines, month‑end close requirements.
- Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and check.
- Posting of accruals and prepayments journals.
- Posting of salary and wages journals.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Regular analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as project variances, recoveries and productive hours.
- Support analysis and explanation of overhead spending.
- Support FBP in ensuring monthly and quarterly reporting is completed in line with fast‑close protocol and set timescales.
- Support FBP in monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Support the Finance Business Partner (FBP) with annual budget preparation.
- Data mining and manipulation to support points above.
Cash Management
- Support checking and approval of new supplier and customer setup.
- Support checking and approval of payments and banking activities.
- Provide credit worthiness checks on new and existing customers or prospect customers.
- Build, maintain, and monitor internal processes in line with Group internal control procedures.
Control and Reporting
- Assist with the audit processes.
- Support the FBP in preparing statutory year‑end accounts by providing the necessary information.
- Support the FBP in ensuring BU is compliant with Group's Internal Control procedures, which includes leading the internal control reporting for the BU.
Administration and Other
- Attend mandatory training courses. Examples of which include FBP development programmes, HR policies, Ethics compliance and Cyber Security.
- Live the values of the group.
- Ad hoc Admin duties as required.
Knowledge
- Qualified accounting qualification, degree, or part qualified at CIMA/ACCA.
- Experienced with using a financial package and ERP system.
- Ability to translate, report, and communicate financial analysis into clear actions and objectives.
- Strong financial skills applied in a project‑costing context.
- Ability to analyse and interpret variances.
- Good knowledge of basic accounting functions, such as accounts payables, accounts receivables, and timesheets.
- Understand importance of good cash management, including forecasting.
Preferable
- Knowledge of SAP or similar systems.
