Lead software design and development for PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell or equivalent), SCADA/HMI systems. Develop software architecture, standards and reusable libraries to improve quality and delivery speed.
Author and maintain technical documentation including functional specifications, software design documents, test plans and FAT/SAT procedures. Implement and execute unit, integration and system tests; support factory acceptance testing and site commissioning. Work closely with project managers, control engineers, mechanical and electrical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior control engineers and developers. Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices, code review and configuration management processes. Engage with clients on technical issues, present solutions and respond to site queries during commissioning and handover.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in control software engineering (minimum 7 years preferred) with PLC and SCADA/HMI systems.
- Strong programming skills in ladder, structured text and scripting languages; experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000 or similar.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC/UA).
- Practical understanding of control system commissioning, diagnostics and resolving on-site issues.
- Good documentation skills and experience producing technical specifications and test procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and validation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BEng or equivalent) or demonstrable industry experience.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support.
