Responsibilities
- Organise and supervise a working party carrying out all works associated with overhead line construction to ensure a high quality of finished work.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment, taking responsibility for your own personal safety, that of members of the working party and others, including members of the public, who may be affected by NorPower's works.
- Take responsibility for protection of the environment so far as is applicable to your role.
- Set a personal example and actively encourage compliance with company policies and procedures, applicable regulations and codes of practice, in order to assist NorPower in achieving its aims and objectives.
- Assist with developing employees' competence ensuring that trainees are supervised by a suitably experienced staff member and follow instructions given.
- Carry out risk assessments ensuring that conditions and methods of work are safe, and communicate all relevant information to your working party and any others who may be affected, including emergency procedures, health, safety and environmental risks and controls, and any relevant restrictions or limitations.
- Communication with landowners, Client personnel, specialist personnel and other visitors to site.
- Ensure incident, near miss and SAFEcheck reporting requirements are complied with and assist with investigations where appropriate.
- Ensure all plant, machines and equipment is in a safe condition and checked in accordance with established procedures, defects are reported and, where appropriate, repairs/replacements are complete.
- Keep all areas on site clean, tidy, in a safe condition and clear of waste materials.
- Maintain records of site activity, ensuring documents are signed by relevant personnel where required.
- Follow instruction from Contracts Engineer/General Foreman, monitor work progress against targets and report progress.

Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years' experience in the OHL industry.
- Experience in relevant areas of construction and maintenance of OHL and the related equipment, materials and tools.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to organise a work team.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of, and concern for, safety and environmental matters.
