To support our continued growth in the UK, we are seeking a Business Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) to join our Scotland Team in Bellshill, Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated candidate to contribute to the development of innovative ground engineering solutions across a wide range of industries—including infrastructure, residential, and commercial.
As a key member of our team, you will play a central role in securing new work through the preparation and submission of high-quality ground improvement proposals, while also supporting the successful delivery of projects during construction. All proposals are developed in alignment with our business strategy and procedures, ensuring both technical excellence and commercial competitiveness.
Key Tasks and Qualifications:
- Lead the bid process, ensuring timely and effective delivery of tender submissions.
- Review tender documentation (drawings, specifications, site investigations, etc.) to evaluate all relevant information.
- Prepare preliminary ground improvement designs and supporting documents during the pre-construction phase, under senior engineering review.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and proactively identify project risks.
- Select appropriate methods, outputs, and resources to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
- Manage and coordinate the preparation of tender price schedules in accordance with the pricing strategy and risk assessments.
- Ensure that cost plans are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile.
- Maintain effective communication with external stakeholders (consultants, contractors, suppliers) to build long‑term relationships and encourage repeat business.
- Respond to post‑tender queries and provide technical input to stakeholders.
- Lead customer meetings and the presentation of tender proposals.
- Ensure smooth handover of bid documentation to operational and commercial teams.
- Ensure compliance with business strategy and authority levels.
- Maintain accurate reporting of commercial pipeline through CRM (Salesforce).
- Support delivery teams by reviewing technical and pre‑construction information, including site visits and client meetings.
- Stay up to date with industry developments, technologies, and standards in ground engineering.
- Contribute to business strategy, pricing activities, and the development of marketing materials (brochures, website content, data sheets).
- Promote a strong safety culture (WORKSAFE HOMESAFE) and environmental responsibility (LESS IS MORE MENARD).
A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field. Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, GeolSoc) and a valid CSCS card is a plus. The role requires some experience and practical technical/engineering knowledge of ground engineering processes. A customer‑centric mindset with a flexible and innovative approach. Strategic and creative thinking to identify opportunities and challenge conventional methods. Strong attention to detail and the confidence to advise senior management when necessary. Willingness to gain hands‑on experience on‑site as part of training and development. The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the ground engineering business. Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are necessary. Knowledge of AutoCAD would be advantageous. Full UK Driving Licence is required.
