We are recruiting a Design Manager for a fixed‑term 12‑month maternity cover period to support our Midlands Business Unit, with an opportunity to progress into a longer‑term, project‑based role as future projects develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take independent responsibility for design management on medium to large‑scale projects, coordinating design activities and managing consultant relationships.
  • Implement design management processes aligned to contract requirements and business objectives, including governance, review gates and decision rights.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on quality, safety and continuous improvement across project teams and consultant partners.
  • Develop and manage project design programmes, establish logic, interfaces and dependencies across design disciplines, and integrate consultant and supply‑chain TIDPs into programmes.
  • Lead design coordination meetings focused on programme delivery, issue resolution and stakeholder alignment.
  • Work with Document Control and Digital Engineering teams to implement Information Management plans (EIR/AIR/OIR) and BIM Execution Plans, and maintain CDE systems with naming conventions, workflows and approval processes.
  • Ensure correct publication and maintenance of MIDP/TIDP, manage model federation and clash detection processes and oversee issue identification and resolution.
  • Coordinate comprehensive approvals strategy, including Planning permissions, Building Control, highways, utilities, and environmental consents, and manage Building Control submissions and amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and Building Safety Act Gateway requirements, including design risk management and designer competence management.
  • Review and assess Employer's Requirements and Works Information; develop compliant Contractor's Proposals and design deliverable schedules with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Support compensation event and variation assessments, coordinate technical submittals, maintain approvals tracking systems and support commercial recommendations.
  • Support consultant appointment processes and manage novation processes, monitor consultant performance and implement improvement measures.
  • Coordinate multi‑disciplinary design reviews, value engineering initiatives and constructability assessments, and identify standardisation opportunities.
  • Implement sustainability plans in line with Vinci Building’s Environment Roadmap, coordinate carbon assessments, integrate outcomes into design processes, and support sustainability rating evidence compilation.
