About the role

As a senior technician with either a background in civil or structural engineering, you’ll play a pivotal role providing technical expertise and leadership across a range of mid to large schemes supporting large UK & International contractors to deliver projects in the healthcare, education, commercial, and aviation sector to name a few. Working on your own initiative, or supporting other technicians, you’ll ensure quality and efficiency in technical operations.

SUMMARY OF ROLE

  • Working under the supervision of a project lead and responsible for the supervision of junior technicians.
  • Experience in elemental design of steelwork, concrete, timber and masonry members.
  • Preparation of general arrangement and detailed drawings for building structures (steelwork, reinforced concrete and masonry).
  • Preparation of general arrangement and detailed drawings for retaining structures, including reinforcement layouts and details.
  • Preparation of general arrangement and detailed drawings for sub-structures, including reinforcement layouts and details.
  • Preparation of bar bending schedules.
  • To review drawings and details produced by other members of the design team as part of the process of generating coordinated details.
  • Some of knowledge of detailing of drainage and external works would be beneficial but not critical.
  • Role would be office based.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum HNC in either civil or structural engineering

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years working in a consulting engineers’ office.
  • Applicants must hold the Right to Work in the UK without requiring sponsorship

SKILLS

  • Proficient in the use of both Autocad and Revit and good knowledge of basic Microsoft packages.
  • Experience in elemental design of steelwork, concrete, timber and masonry members.
  • (Current software employed includes Quikport, Quikjoint, Quikframe, Merlin and Quikbeam, GSA, CADS masonry analysis and design, Tedds, Tekla – Frame design suite (includes Tekla Connection Designer & Portal Frame Designer).
