Purpose of Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Construction Manager to join our Capital Works team, delivering a significant programme of life cycle and infrastructure projects at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) as part of the PFI contract, now entering its four year hand back phase.

Job Description

Over £60 million of essential works are scheduled during this period, spanning a wide range of electrical and M&E projects. Values will vary from smaller £10k packages to multi million pound schemes, offering a diverse and challenging project portfolio. The Electrical Construction Manager will play a critical role in ensuring these works are delivered safely, compliantly and to the quality standards required for a successful contract hand back. You will ensure all works are safely coordinated, technically compliant, and delivered on time and within budget. A strong focus on stakeholder management, planning and risk control is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of electrical and wider construction projects across the QEH PFI contract
  • Manage the performance of subcontracted delivery teams
  • Conduct and oversee site inductions and ensure compliance with all site protocols
  • Maintain regular engagement with client stakeholders and internal teams
  • Provide full project financial management, forecasting and reporting
  • Establish and maintain robust risk, issues, and programme controls
  • Ensure all projects meet Health & Safety, CDM and statutory compliance requirements
  • Support the successful delivery of lifecycle works contributing to PFI contract hand back obligations

Essential Qualifications/Skills

  • Strong site/project management experience within construction, ideally with an electrical background
  • Experience within healthcare, PFI or operational critical environments beneficial
  • NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) desirable
  • SMSTS certification
  • Experience managing projects from £10k up to £5m+
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate with clients and supply-chain partners
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and relevant project management systems)
