Graduate Automation Engineer Career Opportunity – Automation, SCADA & Control Systems

Key Responsibilities – Graduate Automation Engineering
- Support the design, development, and implementation of automation systems, including PLC, SCADA, and HMI solutions.
- Assist with configuration, programming, and testing of control solutions in line with client specifications and project requirements.
- Work alongside senior engineers and project managers to deliver high‑quality automation projects from initial concept through to commissioning and handover.
- Participate in the preparation of technical documentation, including functional design specifications, test documents, and operation manuals.
- Contribute to site surveys and site‑based commissioning activities, ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for clients’ automation systems as required.
- Promote and comply with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements in line with company and client procedures.
Essential Skills & Qualifications for Graduate Automation Engineering Careers
- Degree (or about to graduate) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Keen interest in automation, control systems, and digital technologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and fault‑finding skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with teams and clients.
- Competence with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn specialist automation software and tools.
- Collaborative approach and readiness to work within project teams on client sites as required.
- Full, valid UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one (desirable).
- Eligibility to work in the UK; we are unable to sponsor visas for this role.
Desirable Knowledge and Additional Attributes
- Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider or similar) through academic projects, placements, or internships.
- Familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms and industrial networking.
- Understanding of electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
