Key Responsibilities – Graduate Automation Engineering
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of automation systems, including PLC, SCADA, and HMI solutions.
  • Assist with configuration, programming, and testing of control solutions in line with client specifications and project requirements.
  • Work alongside senior engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality automation projects from initial concept through to commissioning and handover.
  • Participate in the preparation of technical documentation, including functional design specifications, test documents, and operation manuals.
  • Contribute to site surveys and site-based commissioning activities, ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for clients’ automation systems as required.
  • Promote and comply with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements in line with company and client procedures.
Essential Skills & Qualifications for Graduate Automation Engineering Careers
  • Degree (or about to graduate) in Automation, Computer Science, Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Keen interest in automation, control systems, and digital technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and fault-finding skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with teams and clients.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn specialist automation software and tools.
  • Collaborative approach and readiness to work within project teams on client sites as required.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one (desirable).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK; please note we are unable to sponsor visas for this role.
Desirable Knowledge and Additional Attributes
  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider or similar) through academic projects, placements, or internships.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms and industrial networking.
  • Understanding of electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
