At Kelvin Power, part of the global VINCI Energies group, we're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to play a key role in driving the financial performance of our growing business. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with operational teams, influencing business decisions and making a real impact. Reporting to the Business Unit General Manager, with a close working relationship with the Finance Director, you'll take ownership of the financial management of the business unit while leading and developing a small finance and administration team. What you'll be doing
As Financial Controller, you'll be responsible for ensuring the financial health of the business unit by providing accurate reporting, commercial insight and robust financial controls. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading all financial activities across the business unit.
- Producing monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial reports.
- Partnering with operational managers to provide commercial insight and support decision making.
- Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Monitoring KPIs including project performance, debtors, invoice lag and overhead expenditure.
- Supporting Project Managers with project accounting and financial performance reviews.
- Managing cash flow, forecasting and credit control.
- Overseeing VAT, CIS and Corporation Tax processes.
- Managing statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit activities.
- Ensuring compliance with VINCI Energies Group financial controls and reporting requirements.
- Leading, mentoring and developing the finance and administration team.
- Supporting wider business initiatives, including environmental and HR reporting.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent commercial awareness and the ability to build relationships across the business. You'll ideally have:
- CIMA, ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance position.
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Experience working within a project-based, engineering, construction or contracting environment (desirable).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn financial data into meaningful business insights.
- Strong understanding of cash flow management and financial controls.
- Experience managing or developing finance teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
