The Associate Director – NEC Project Manager is responsible for the contractual management of the Independent Assurance Framework and associated assurance service providers. The role acts as the Client’s NEC Project Manager, ensuring all assurance contracts are administered effectively, consistently and in accordance with contractual requirements, enabling assurance activities to be delivered without contractual impediment.

The role:

  • Act as NEC Project Manager for assurance contracts across the CWP Independent Assurance Framework.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with NEC processes, ensuring all actions are issued within required timescales.
  • Manage compensation events, early warnings, programme submissions, contract changes and contractual correspondence to defined timelines.
  • Maintain auditable contract records and ensure contractual compliance across all suppliers, likely via CEMAR.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are consistently applied across multiple assurance providers and commissions.
  • Develop and implement proportionate contract management processes, procedures and guidance supporting Phase 2 assurance delivery.
  • Establish clear interfaces between the Independent Assurance Team, SZC Commercial Team and assurance suppliers.
  • Define roles, responsibilities and governance arrangements required for effective contract administration.
  • Ensure contractual processes align with the wider TOC governance, assurance and decision-making framework.
  • Drive standardisation where appropriate whilst accommodating supplier-specific contractual arrangements.
  • Provide contractual advice to the TOC Independent Assurance Lead.
  • Working closely with SZC Commercial teams, support commercial decision-making relating to assurance commissions, supplier performance and contractual risk.
  • Ensure governance forums receive timely and accurate information relating to contractual matters.
  • Identify emerging contractual risks and ensure these are appropriately escalated and managed.
  • Develop effective working relationships with assurance suppliers and SZC Commercial representatives.
  • Promote collaborative behaviours whilst maintaining contractual discipline and compliance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and contractual commitments, supporting timely resolution of issues.
  • Ensure contractual matters do not delay or adversely impact assurance activities or governance decision-making.

Accountabilities:

  • Effective administration of assurance service contracts.
  • Compliance with NEC contractual requirements and timescales.
  • Development and implementation of contract management processes supporting assurance delivery, reporting, KPIs, etc.
  • Identification and management of contractual risks and issues.
  • Maintaining contractual readiness to support assurance activities across the TOC portfolio.

The role is not accountable for assurance findings, governance decisions or technical assurance outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience delivering NEC suite of contracts on major infrastructure, construction or capital programmes.
  • Extensive experience administering multi-million-pound NEC contracts on behalf of clients, including the use of CEMAR.
  • NEC Accredited Project Manager (or equivalent NEC accreditation).
  • Demonstrable experience operating within complex multi-supplier environments.
  • Strong understanding of governance, commercial management and programme delivery controls.
  • Experience developing and implementing contract management processes and procedures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.

Desirables:

  • Experience within regulated infrastructure programmes such as Nuclear.
  • Experience working within programme management, assurance or governance environments.
