Join an established and collaborative legal team supporting the UK division of a leading construction business. This is a varied, non-contentious legal role offering the opportunity to work closely with project and commercial teams, provide practical legal advice, shape contractual best practice, and contribute to the success of major projects across the business.

Working alongside experienced legal professionals, you will play a key role in managing legal risk, negotiating commercial agreements, and supporting stakeholders with commercially focused legal guidance.

Job Description

As Senior Solicitor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality non-contentious legal support across a broad range of contractual and commercial matters. You will review, negotiate, and advise on construction contracts and related agreements, while partnering with internal teams to provide timely and pragmatic legal solutions.

This role offers excellent variety, exposure to complex projects, and the opportunity to influence legal and commercial outcomes across the organisation. You will also support the development of junior colleagues and help drive legal knowledge-sharing throughout the business.

Responsibilities

  • Review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of non-contentious construction contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Draft and advise on framework agreements, collateral warranties, and novation agreements.
  • Support project and delivery teams with contract interpretation, notices, and commercial guidance.
  • Provide practical legal advice that balances business objectives and risk management.
  • Draft, maintain, and improve precedent contracts and legal documentation.
  • Review and advise on commercial agreements, including supplier and technology-related contracts.
  • Deliver legal training and share best practice across the business.
  • Support the effective management of contractual and commercial risk.
  • Supervise and mentor junior members of the legal team.
  • Manage relationships with external legal advisers where required.

Essential Qualifications / Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor with strong experience in non-contentious legal work.
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing and negotiating construction contracts.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard contract forms, including JCT, NEC, and FIDIC.
  • Experience advising on ancillary agreements, including collateral warranties, bonds, and parent company guarantees.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical, and commercially focused legal advice.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Confidence working autonomously and managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal matters clearly.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting colleagues in a professional environment.
