Purpose of the job

As a Service and Installations Engineer you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of specialized equipment and machinery. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure that equipment operates efficiently and safely. The role will require travel to customer sites across a set region (South, North and Scotland), offering the opportunity to work at a variety of location and interact with a diverse range of clients.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Installation
    • Install and set up new equipment and machinery at customer sites or within the organization's facilities.
    • Ensure that installations adhere to safety and quality standards.
    • Calibrate and configure equipment to meet operational requirements.
  2. Maintenance and Service
    • Perform routine maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
    • Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics to identify and address potential issues.
    • Replace or repair faulty components, parts, or systems as needed.
  3. Troubleshooting
    • Investigate and diagnose equipment malfunctions or technical problems.
    • Develop solutions and implement repairs to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  4. Documentation
    • Maintain detailed records of equipment installations, maintenance, and service activities.
    • Generate service reports and documentation for internal and external use.
  5. Customer Interaction
    • Interact with customers to understand their equipment needs and provide technical support.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to explain installation procedures, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
  6. Training and Support
    • Provide training and guidance to end‑users or technicians on proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
    • Offer technical support and assistance to customers via phone, email, or on‑site visits.
  7. Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
    • Stay up‑to‑date with industry standards and certifications related to equipment operation and service.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, with a focus on electrical preferred.
  • Holds, or has the ability to achieve, a valid ECS Gold Card (Installation Electrician or Maintenance Electrician) or the ECS HERS (Highway Electrical Registration Scheme) Card.
  • Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in equipment installation, maintenance, or repair is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
