VINCI Building has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within the Commercial team with expertise in the MEP building services sector. The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial delivery across various elements of our projects from feasibility to completion, initially leading the Sheffield Forgemasters project to support the MEP package valued at circa ÂŁ20m.
You will need strong contractual knowledge, ideally of NEC form of contracts, to maintain commercial control of work packages throughout the project lifecycle. Working as part of the wider north east regional team, you’ll help ensure projects are procured efficiently, delivered within budget and to the highest quality, whilst exceeding client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Start Up of New Projects: Develop an understanding of Pre-Contract Management and Project commercial start-up procedures.
- Procurement: Procure materials and off-site services efficiently, ensuring organisations can carry out work in accordance with best practice, legal requirements, and VINCI Building procurement procedures. Assist with subcontract procurement and preparation of work package content sheets.
- Applications for Payment and Invoicing: Assist in the timely preparation of valuations, submissions of invoices, and receipt of payment. Assist in the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts.
- Cost Control: Develop an understanding of principle unit costs of resources. Assist in monitoring and managing subcontract costs and preparing material wastage reconciliations.
- Accounting and Reporting: Contribute to the production of accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts.
- Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify risks and opportunities in projects.
- Change Control: Recognise and record “Change” and support early value engineering activities.
- Programming and Project Controls: Develop knowledge of programming and sequencing requirements.
- Main Contract Administration: Understand contractual relationships between various parties and stakeholders.
Essential Criteria:
- Subcontract & package procurement experience
- Experience working for a large UK Main Contractor
- Experience in re-measurement
- Financial / cost control
- Appropriate CSCS card
- Valid driving licence
- A solid understanding of contract law, particularly NEC forms of contract
- Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and specifications
Desirable Criteria:
- Construction related degree
- Experience in new build Healthcare projects
