Senior Fire Engineer Full Details: VINCI Building has an exciting opportunity for an individual to work across the business to ensure the timely delivery of technical fire safety support to design and construction teams. Working close to assist the Principal Fire Safety Engineer, you’ll support in defining, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures against the business’s building fire safety strategy to achieve excellence and successful outcomes on the projects we deliver. The role requires a high level of competence in technical knowledge of fire safety legislation, guidance and their application in design and delivery. Technical expertise and its legal application to satisfy the new building safety regime must be at the forefront in the delivery of compliant buildings, whether considered a higher risk building or not. Specific Tasks & Responsibilities: * Assist in the development, delivery, and maintenance of building safety initiatives to improve the safety culture within the business. * Assist in the development, delivery, communication, and maintenance of policies and procedures relating to excellence of fire safety outcomes in project delivery. * Assist sites in the creation of compliant Fire procedures, ITP’s and safety checks applicable to site projects, and upskill our site teams in carrying out such inspections. * Assist and monitor the delivery of fire safety training across the business. * Engage with third party fire specific training providers to ensure content and delivery is fit for purpose and value for money against required skills and knowledge required for construction delivery. * Assist in the monitoring and assessment of specialist fire safety service providers during the design and delivery phases of a project. * Engage with project third party fire consultants, specialist, and architect to provide support and opinion on construction issue solutions. * Provide guidance and support on Higher Risk Building projects and Building Safety Act building control applications using approved internal documentation. * Keep the Principal Fire Engineer (PFE) apprised regarding delivery, communication, and usability of introduced fire policies and procedures. * Keep the Principal Fire Engineer apprised regarding competence of fire related contractors and associated quality of workmanship. * As required, represent Vinci on fire safety matters at design team meetings. Review and comment on proposals and the development of fire and building regulatory compliant designs. * Assist and / or provide (in the absence of the PFE) expert opinion at project level in reviewing Technical Assessments proposed to be undertaken by specialist third parties. * Identification of training gaps / needs of site supervisory teams to inform training and / or resource needs. * Undertake spot quality inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legislative and business management system requirements. * Provide effective feedback to the Senior Management team, Principal Fire Engineer, regional operations, account managers to ensure lessons can be learnt, and to inform processes and systems are effective for compliant project delivery. * Willingness to travel across the North as well as other UK regions which will include overnight stays. Required Skills & Qualifications * A degree in Fire Engineering or a related construction discipline. * Experience in both new build fire strategies and existing building risk assessments. * Membership of Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) * Strong knowledge of UK fire safety regulations, including Approved Document B and PAS 9980.
