VINCI Building has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a significant part in supporting the delivery of a £180m student accommodation project at the University of Southampton.

With a build programme to 2029, the scheme includes in excess of 1,500 new student beds, along with refurbishment and the restoration of a Grade II listed building.

Designed to operate emission-free, this project will exceed UK net zero carbon targets, along with a commitment to significantly increase affordable student accommodation.

The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial delivery across various elements of this project from feasibility to completion.

You will need strong contractual knowledge, ideally of JCT form of contract in order to maintain commercial control of work packages throughout the project lifecycle.

Working as part of the wider London & South regional team, based on site in Southampton, you’ll help to ensure this major project is procured efficiently, delivered within budget and to the highest quality, whilst exceeding the expectations of our client.

About you

  • Strong commercial management experience across the full project lifecycle, from procurement through to final account.
  • Experience delivering multi-occupancy residential or student accommodation schemes.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of JCT forms of contract, NEC would be advantageous.
  • Strong subcontract procurement, package management and cost reporting skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams.
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, collaborative and positive approach, with the ability to work effectively within a high-performing project team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated, organised and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Passionate about delivering value, driving project success and maintaining high professional standards.
