As Contracts Manager, your aim is to ensure that we provide a market leading customer experience, and to lead our teams to deliver safe, quality, and profitable contracts on time. You will act as a senior operational manager and will be responsible for building strong project teams, providing leadership, drive, and enthusiasm.
You will be responsible for planning and developing courses of action that initiate and achieve substantial strategic objectives, exercising broad autonomy and judgement. You will initiate and lead complex tasks and processes, taking responsibility and being accountable for the work and roles of others. You must have expert knowledge, skill, and experience in all forms of construction and understand the complexities and challenges of delivering technical and complex construction projects.

You will take responsibility for multiple projects as well as also being involved in the pre-construction stages of projects and post-construction issues that may arise after practical completion.
The Contracts Manager has overall responsibility for the co-ordination, management, and delivery of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed profitably, safely, on time, and to an acceptable standard whilst maintaining and promoting strong client relationships. You will ensure the most effective and efficient utilisation of people and resources required for the duration of the project. You will report to the Construction Director.
General Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Provide leadership, challenge, and support to our project teams.
- Maintain and develop strong customer relationships.
- Develop and implement project delivery strategies aligned to business plan KPIs and project objectives, ensuring all functions (design, planning for example) are engaged.
- Participate in the tendering process including input into the development of programmes, methodologies, quality submissions, and playing an active role at tender interviews.
- Build relationships with our customers and their wider teams, engaging them and communicating clearly throughout the projects.
- Hold strong relationships and contribute to the management of our supply chain.
- With the Commercial Manager, develop and own the project risk and opportunities register(s). Identify and respond to risks with clear plans of action, and support for your teams.
- Ensure that company standards and processes are adhered to, including but not limited to: health, safety, environment, wellbeing, quality, programme, commercial and contract, and profitability.
- Responsible for all pre-construction, construction, and post-construction operational management.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager to ensure all Contract Documentation and administration is managed.
- Ensure that project reviews and reports are accurate, robust, and timely.
- Produce and present Monthly Progress reports to the Client Team.
- Ensure that all project deliverables are achieved (for example, BREEAM, Considerate Constructors).
- Undertake all relevant training and development activities as required for yourself and your team. Manage and develop our people, mentoring and coaching as necessary.
- Continually develop knowledge of innovative construction techniques and products to enhance the business and fulfil company CPD requirements.
- Contribute to the Company's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
- Take an active role in the recruitment and selection process as and when required.
