As the Senior Building Services Manager, you will lead a team overseeing the management and coordination of complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and public health) design and build subcontract packages. You’ll act as a critical link between VINCI Building, architects, sub-contractors and clients, managing budgets, safety compliance, and systems efficiency, crucial in the construction phase ensuring high-quality installations are delivered. Your experience with previous Healthcare schemes coupled with knowledge of NEC contracts will be crucial in maintaining project progress while adhering to timelines, budgets, and safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project Coordination: Reviewing installation plans and coordinating services within the building design to meet client needs.
- Technical Oversight: Managing the installation, testing, and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensuring all systems meet VINCI Building standards, legal regulations, safety codes, and health & safety requirements.
- Team Leadership: Leading teams, supervising subcontractors, and managing budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the off-site design process on Stage 1 and 2 tenders, commencing at ‘RIBA Stage 2 or 3 – Concept or Developed Design’, in accordance with the VCUK Design Management processes and procedures.
- Manage the on-site design process at ‘RIBA Stage 4 and 5 – Technical Design and Construction’, in accordance with the VCUK Design Management processes and procedures.
- Provide technical support to the onsite construction activities in order to maintain quality benchmarks.
- Assist the Design Manager in the discharge of the Design Manager’s Specific Tasks and responsibilities.
- Lead the management of the MEP bid and preconstruction phases.
- Oversee high-value MEP subcontract packages on Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and accommodation projects.
- Ensure compliance with project objectives and budgets.
- Drive cost control processes, ensuring strict adherence to financial constraints.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and construction teams.
- Provide technical expertise in building systems such as electrical, mechanical, fire safety, security, water treatment, and high-voltage systems.
What You Bring:
- 8+ years in construction working for either a sub-contractor or main contractor in the UK, with at least 5 years in a project management role, particularly managing MEP subcontracts.
- Proven experience in large-scale Healthcare projects with package values exceeding £10m.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on client satisfaction, innovation, and team development.
- Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
