Our client is a leading, independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in the Bolton area. Experiencing significant expansion across their specialist tax division, they are seeking an ambitious Tax Senior to work alongside seasoned Directors, delivering bespoke corporate and personal tax planning for a varied portfolio of SMEs and owner-managed businesses (OMBs).
The Opportunity
In this high-growth role, you will bridge the gap between complex tax compliance and strategic advisory work. Collaborating directly with senior tax specialists, you will conduct technical research, draft structured advice, and assist on complex planning projects across corporate restructuring, personal wealth, and business exits. Designed as a springboard for technical and career advancement, this position offers direct mentorship and a clear, transparent trajectory toward Tax Manager and beyond.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience: CTA qualified (or 0-2 years PQE) with 3-6 years' UK accountancy practice experience in tax, backed by a thorough compliance foundation.
- Advisory & Planning: Proven ability to identify tax planning opportunities within SME/OMB client portfolios. Experience or strong desire to gain exposure across corporate tax, personal tax, and transactional planning.
- Technical Research & Drafting: Strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex UK tax legislation and draft practical, clear technical reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Client Engagement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to attend client meetings and contribute to advisory discussions.
- Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Ability to work across audit, accounts, and corporate finance teams to deliver joined-up, holistic tax solutions.
Package & Working Structure
- Competitive Remuneration: £42,000-£55,000 base salary per annum (dependent on PQE and advisory experience) plus performance-related bonus scheme.
