Location: Blackpool, Lancashire

Salary: £28,000 – £35,000+ DOE

Are you an ambitious practice accountant seeking a market-leading work-life balance without compromising on your career progression? Our client is a prominent, highly regarded North West accountancy group known for its people-first culture, technical excellence, and exceptional client retention. Operating from modern Blackpool offices, they are seeking an Audit & Accounts Semi-Senior (3+ years UK practice experience) to join their collaborative team. Differentiating themselves through a flexible 4-day working week initiative, full professional study funding, and clear pathways to Senior level, this firm offers an ideal environment to accelerate your qualifications while managing a varied regional portfolio.

The Opportunity

Acting as a key point of contact for a diverse client base—spanning ambitious SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and sizeable corporate entities—you will work directly alongside experienced Managers and Partners. Designed for a motivated professional studying towards or looking to commence ACA/ACCA qualifications, this role provides structured career development, direct audit field experience, and the autonomy to shape your working week around your personal wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Experience & Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years’ recent UK general practice experience within audit and accounts. AAT qualified and actively studying towards (or preparing to start) ACA or ACCA qualifications.

  • Accounts Preparation: End-to-end preparation of year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, and LLPs from both client software and incomplete records.

  • Audit Assignments: Planning, supporting, and executing audit fieldwork across diverse industry sectors, compiling comprehensive audit files and testing documentation under manager supervision.

  • Client Engagement & Advisory: Building strong working relationships with client finance teams, responding to day-to-day accounting queries, and assisting with management information.

  • Team Collaboration & Mentoring: Supporting junior team members and trainees while maintaining strict quality control and deadline management.

  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and audit software, supported by strong MS Excel capabilities.

Package & Working Structure

  • Competitive Remuneration: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum (dependent on qualification status, experience, and market standing) with structured annual salary reviews.

  • Work-Life Balance Initiative: 35-hour working week with the option to compressed working via a 4-day work week model to support personal wellbeing.

  • Full Professional Qualification Support: Full financial coverage of professional study costs, exam fees, and paid study leave for ACA/ACCA completion, alongside payment of annual professional body subscriptions.

  • Generous Holiday Allowance: 25 days annual leave (5 weeks) plus statutory bank holidays.

  • Comprehensive Health & Protection: Group Life Assurance scheme (4x salary), Group Income Protection, and auto-enrolment pension contributions.

  • Incentives & Socials: Lucrative commission schemes for introducing new clients or successful team referrals, alongside fully funded firm social events.
