Our client is a leading regional construction contractor with an extensive presence in the industry. They are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the team as an Assistant Estimator. In this role, you will work closely with our experienced estimators to assist in the preparation of cost estimates for a range of construction projects. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities for growth and development within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the estimating team to assist in the preparation of cost estimates for projects
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Obtain and analyse quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
- Assist in the preparation of take-offs and quantities for materials and labour
- Utilise estimating software and spreadsheets to accurately calculate costs
- Participate in bid meetings and presentations
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all estimates and related documents
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of estimates
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and streamline the estimating process
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying
- 1-2 years of experience in construction estimating preferred
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques
- Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
