We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Construction Contracts Manager to oversee multiple construction projects from contract award to completion. They will be responsible for ensuring that all works are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with health and safety regulations, contract requirements, and client expectations. Initially, the project they will be responsible for is in Swindon, which has a start date of 14th July, however with our potential workload this will extend to other projects mainly in the Midlands. This is a key role within our organisation, working closely with site managers, commercial teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer construction contracts (JCT, NEC, or bespoke contracts)
- Oversee the delivery of projects across multiple sites, ensuring they meet cost, time, and quality objectives
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure effective project delivery
- Review contract documentation and identify potential risks or variations
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to senior management and clients
- In conjunction with the QS Team, manage project budgets, valuations, change orders, and final accounts
- Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations are met across all projects
- Chair regular project meetings and produce accurate reporting documentation
- Resolve any disputes or contractual issues in a timely and professional manner
- Support the tendering and pre-construction processes where necessary
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager in the construction industry (minimum 5 years)
- In-depth knowledge of UK construction contracts (particularly JCT and NEC forms)
- Strong understanding of commercial management, budgeting, and cost control
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in MS Office and project management software. We use Project Commander.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites as required
Qualifications
- Degree/HND in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- SMSTS, CSCS Manager Card, and First Aid Certification (desirable)
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIOB, RICS) is an advantage
