Company Overview
This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, privately-owned groundworks and civil engineering contractor in the East Midlands. Established for just over 6 years, the business currently employs around 40 operatives and has a strong secured pipeline for 2026. Projects typically include:
- Care homes
- Residential developments
- Industrial units / warehouses
- Associated infrastructure and external works
The business is now looking for an experienced Contracts Manager who can help take the company to the next level and form part of the senior operational team.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing multiple groundworks and civil engineering packages, working across both site and office environments. This role requires a rare combination of strong groundworks knowledge plus strong IT/systems competency.
You will be involved in:
- Overseeing multiple sites and site teams
- Attending pre-start and progress meetings
- Programming works using Microsoft Project
- Producing RAMS and supporting documentation
- Co-ordinating road applications and permits
- Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings
- Managing sub-contractors and suppliers
- Working closely with Directors and Clients
- Handover and completion of packages
- Using Dropbox/OneDrive to manage documents and drawings
This is a hands-on and varied role requiring excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager / Project Manager within groundworks & civil engineering
- Groundworks packages
- Drainage
- Foundations
- Infrastructure works
- External works
- SSSTS or SMSTS (essential)
- Ability to prepare:
- RAMS
- Weekly / Monthly programmes
- Site reports
- Microsoft Project
- Dropbox or OneDrive
- Reading & managing construction drawings
