The purpose of the job is to mitigate/minimise risk to the company and maximise profits through effective contract negotiation and commercial management.
REPORTING TO: Managing Quantity Surveyor
WORKING HOURS: PROBATION: 3 months
LOCATION: Summit House, Alma Park Road, Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG31 9SP
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attendance of pre-contract meetings
- Preparation and valuation of interim applications and final accounts
- Identification and notification of variations
- Administration of sub-contracts and sub-sub-contracts including issue of required Notices under the contracts
- Negotiation of subcontracts and sub-sub-contracts
- Preparation of payments for sub-sub-contractors
- Negotiation and resolution of contractual disputes
- Cash flow forecasting
- Assessing and managing credit risks
- Monthly WIP reports for accounts specifying and making provisions for any known/potential risks
- Support the on-going development of F P McCanns position in its key sectors
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s policies including Health & Safety
- Observe and comply with all good working practices.
Person Specification - Quantity Surveyor
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES:
- Good knowledge of construction contract law
- Experience in contract negotiation
- Experience of administration of contracts and sub-contracts
- Claims and dispute resolution skills and proven record
- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
- Commercially aware
- Time management and organisation skills
- Good computer skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office in particularly Excel
- Ability to work on own initiative, but understand level of responsibility within the team
- Hold a valid driving license
- BSc (Hons 2.1) in Quantity Surveying (or similar)
- Previous experience of working in the Precast Concrete sector
- Hold a current CSCS card
