Lovely new and exciting opportunity for a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer in Birmingham. My Client is ambitious, expanding, and on the hunt for a driven Structural Engineer ready to embrace a new and exciting role in Central Birmingham. As a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer you will be capable of design and coordinating projects, taking the lead on exciting multidisciplinary schemes, driving technical excellence!
Overview:
- The role offers an excellent range of projects so plenty of variation in the scope of work you will be undertaking; mixed logistics, residential, educational, high-end care facilities etc.
- Taking technical ownership and responsibility of the production of drawings, calculations, reports and design documents produced by self, or coordinating and reviewing work produced by others;
- Use design/analysis tools (including CAD) confidently, and support junior team members in their development
- Analyse complex engineering problems and develop creative, practical solutions
- Attend site visits to assess constraints and guide construction with a proactive, solutions-first mindset
- Lead project delivery liaising directly with clients, consultants, and third parties
- Present and communicate technical solutions clearly, whether to engineers or non-technical audiences
- Manage internal project elements: resource planning, financial tracking, and delivery oversight
- Develop fee proposals and project cost estimates
- Identify and respond to commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
Candidate Overview:
- Masters degree in civil and/or structural engineering desirable
- Ideally Chartered or working towards it (ICE or IStructE)
- A collaborative, hands-on approach and pride in quality work
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
- Passion for solving engineering challenges
