Excellent opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer in Birmingham to join a UK based, leading Engineering Consultancy whose Birmingham office specialises in Civil Infrastructure Design and Engineering for Clients within the residential sector. Due to continuous growth of the business and a strong workload an opening has arisen for a Civil Infrastructure Engineer and is ideally suited to someone with a minimum of 3 years experience + in infrastructure design of residential projects.

Overview of role / responsibilities:

  • Working on various residential and non-residential projects around the UK, from small private developers to national house builders and master planning schemes.
  • Liaise and communicate with Clients, third party consultants/council officers.
  • Liaise and communicate with the wider engineering team.
  • Delegation of tasks to technicians/apprentices, and assistance throughout.
  • Use drainage & 3D design software such as Flow and PDS respectively, to model drainage networks and produce road designs/ground models.
  • Prepare submission packs for planning (Outline/Detail/Full).
  • Complete technical design submissions (S38/S278/S104) through to approval.
  • Complete groundworks packages for tender/construction.
  • Produce private engineering designs for on plot civils work.

The Individual:

  • Proficient knowledge of UK Drainage/Flood Risk.
  • Proficient knowledge of Client & Local Authority standards / requirements.
  • Proficient with Microdrainage/Flow, AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, Microsoft software (Word/Excel etc).

Experience Profile:

  • Proven experience with the preparation of technical submissions (S38/S278/S104).
  • Experience of preparing engineering drawings supporting planning submissions.
  • Experience with private plot work design.
  • Experience with earthwork designs.
  • Evidence of communication skills, confident with client/third party interaction.
