A specialist mechanical services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to deliver mechanical building services projects within hospital and healthcare environments. This role requires a technically strong professional with proven experience managing wet services packages and operating within live, operational healthcare settings. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for projects from preāconstruction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the high standards required in healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical projects from inception through to final handover within hospital and healthcare environments.
- Take full ownership of wet services packages, including LTHW, CHW, DHW, CW, drainage, boosted water systems, and associated plant.
- Plan and manage project programmes, resources, and sequencing, particularly within live healthcare settings.
- Coordinate closely with internal commercial, procurement, and design teams.
- Manage mechanical subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist contractors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, NHS Trusts, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with HTMs, HBNs, Water Regulations, and healthcareāspecific standards.
- Oversee cost control, variations, and commercial reporting.
- Ensure strict adherence to health & safety, infection control, and permitātoāwork procedures.
- Lead commissioning, witness testing, certification, O&M manuals, and final handover.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within hospitals or healthcare environments.
- Strong technical expertise in wet services and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience working in live hospital environments with minimal disruption.
- Good working knowledge of HTM / HBN guidance and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Qualifications
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Building Services, Plumbing, or equivalent.
- Relevant technical or construction management qualifications desirable.
