Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Construction)

Location: Cambridge

The Role

  • Manage and control the commercial aspects of projects
  • Provide accurate financial reporting on individual projects
  • Collate, review and report financially on other projects within remit
  • Supervise, support and advise direct reports
  • Place subcontracts in line with main contract and company policies
  • Advise project surveyors on opportunities to maximise value and minimise costs
  • Monitor subcontractors against programme and provide support on problem areas
  • Ensure consistent and accurate forecasting
  • Implement and oversee commercial systems and procedures
  • Contribute to risk management and advise on effective mitigation strategies
  • Promote effective communication and team collaboration
  • Manage performance of direct reports, setting objectives and supporting development
  • Input into site activities where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate

  • BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or related subject
  • Significant commercial experience with a contracting organisation
  • Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and monthly measurement cycles
  • Understanding of suppliers’ businesses and local market knowledge
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Sound knowledge of the construction industry, standards and specifications
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
