About the role
Trusted finance business partner to key Supply Chain & Operations stakeholders across Operations, Finance and Commercial teams. As the Finance Analyst, your primary responsibility will involve overseeing and upholding the Sainsbury Own Label pricing files, supporting SG&A analysis for all SC&O UK business units and assisting with inventory analysis and reporting. This role offers an excellent chance to demonstrate your problem‑solving abilities and analytical acumen, by collaborating with internal stakeholders throughout the organisation to enact impactful transformations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare monthly Slow‑Moving Inventory (SMI) reports, analysing ageing profiles, identifying at‑risk stock, and providing insight to supply chain and finance teams to support decision‑making.
- Conduct inventory reporting and analysis, including reconciliations, stock movement reviews, and root‑cause investigation of discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and visibility of key trends.
- Business partner with stakeholders across Supply Chain and Commercial, including teams in different geographic locations, to deliver business insights across finished goods inventory.
- Assist with BW and FG Adjustments analysis and reporting.
- Provide support for SG&A P&L budgeting and forecasting.
- Assist the SC&O Manager with reporting and tracking of Value Creation initiatives.
Sainsbury Co-Pack
- Support co‑pack month‑end reporting by preparing data extracts, validating inputs, investigating variances, and delivering clear analysis to highlight operational and cost drivers.
- Support and ensure quarterly pricing files are updated accurately in a timely manner.
- Support on any JS ad‑hoc projects (e.g. pre duty buy‑in, contract renegotiation, duty deferred invoicing).
Governance & Controls
- Ensure financial data is appropriately recorded and maintained within relevant systems.
- Ensure all key balance sheet reconciliations have been completed in line with predetermined timelines and are supported by valid, complete and accurate documents and data.
- Ensure reconciling items are actioned on a timely basis.
- Assist in the year end process and requests for information and liaison with external auditors.
What You’ll Bring:
- University degree in accounting/finance or related discipline.
- CA/CPA professional accreditation (commenced or near completion).
- 1‑3 years’ relevant experience in Accounting or Finance based roles.
- Well‑developed computer skills, particularly PC based applications including MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
- Contribute to team outputs and manage time effectively.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Problem solving capability.
- Bias for action and results delivery.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and is self‑motivated.
