Overview
Please note: This role requires a flexible approach with start times from 8:00 AM and finish times around 5:00 PM unless agreed otherwise. The role will include weekend shifts and a weekend working allowance. The working pattern must include at least one weekend day, with alternative days to be agreed with the successful candidate.
Responsibilities
- Operate as a Community Payback Supervisor, directly supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence.
- This may include driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
- Lead on-site supervision tasks, ensuring all work is carried out to a high standard and in line with good practice.
- Work with service users to support their tasks and outcomes.
- Supervise and motivate teams to complete a range of manual tasks to pay back for the harm caused.
- Tasks may include clearing overgrowth to improve public spaces, restoring community facilities such as sports halls and playgrounds, planting trees or laying flowerbeds, litter picking, and graffiti removal.
- Demonstrate empathetic communication, take a lead role where appropriate, and work with a diverse mix of individuals in a constructive and supportive manner.
Working Pattern and Remuneration
Working pattern is accommodated for people on probation who may have caring responsibilities. Community Payback projects run 7 days a week, so weekend work is expected. On a typical day, you may spend up to 7 hours supervising at a Community Payback unpaid work placement. The starting salary is £26,475. Community Payback Supervisors will be expected to work weekends as part of their normal pattern, with a higher rate (50%) for weekend days worked. There may be opportunities to work part-time in some regions. You may be asked to cover some evenings. You can discuss this at your interview.
Requirements and Expectations
Candidates must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence; this is a mandatory requirement. We cannot accept candidates who hold an automatic driving licence only.
