Overview
Please note: This vacancy is for a Part-Time role β 22.2 hours per week (Thursday - Saturday). Community Payback Supervisors will supervise work groups of offenders serving a community sentence. This is an operational role that may involve driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment. The role includes supervising work sites, working with service users to ensure tasks are carried out to a high standard, and demonstrating good practice where necessary. You will lead small teams to complete unpaid work hours and help make the community a safer, cleaner place.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and motivate groups of offenders to complete a range of manual tasks to repay harm caused, including clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities (such as sports halls and playgrounds), planting trees or laying flowerbeds, and litter picking and graffiti removal.
- Drive service vehicles as required to transport people or equipment.
- Work with diverse individuals, demonstrate empathy, communicate effectively, and take the lead to ensure tasks are completed to the best of their ability.
- Spend up to 7 hours per day supervising a group at a Community Payback unpaid work placement.
Working pattern and compensation
Part-Time role: 22.2 hours per week (Thursday β Saturday). The role is based on a pattern that accommodates people on probation who work or have caring responsibilities. Projects run 7 days a week; weekend work is required as part of the normal pattern. Starting salary will be Β£26,475 (Pro-Rata). Community Payback Supervisors will be paid a higher rate (50%) for weekend days worked. There may be a chance to work part-time in some regions, to be discussed at interview. The pace of work means rest breaks may not always occur in the standard way; wellbeing is prioritised and information will be shared openly from the outset.
Qualifications and requirements
Please note: Candidates must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence when applying for this role; this is a mandatory technical requirement. We cannot accept candidates who hold an automatic driving licence only.
