Overview
Please note: This vacancy is for a Part-Time role - 14.8 hours per week - Sunday & Monday.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence, which may include driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
- Responsible for all work site supervision tasks and working with service users to ensure that all tasks are carried out to the best of their ability, including demonstrating good practice as necessary.
- Support the delivery of Community Payback projects, including activities such as building benches, cleaning streets, and other activities that help make the community a better place.
- Lead small teams to complete unpaid work hours and supervise and motivate participants to complete a range of manual tasks to pay back for the harm caused.
- Work with a diverse mix of individuals, demonstrating empathy, effective communication, and leadership as required to support offenders on their journey and improve community spaces.
- Responsibilities may include clearing overgrowth to make public spaces safer, restoring community facilities (such as sports halls and playgrounds), planting trees or laying flowerbeds, litter picking, and graffiti removal.
Requirements
- Candidate must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence; this is a mandatory technical requirement for the role. A driving licence that is restricted to automatic is not acceptable.
- Empathy, good communication skills, and the ability to lead small teams are important for this role.
Working Pattern and Pay
- Community Payback projects run 7 days a week; the role is accommodated to people on probation who work or have caring responsibilities.
- On a typical day, you may spend up to 7 hours supervising a group at a Community Payback unpaid work placement.
- The starting salary is £26,475 Pro-Rata; weekend work attracts a higher rate of 50% for weekend days worked.
- Post holders may be required to undertake weekend working as part of the normal pattern.
- There may be a chance to work part-time in some regions, which can be discussed at interview.
- Rest breaks may be affected by workload, and wellbeing is supported as part of our approach.
