We're looking for a proactive and organised Maintenance Planner to join our engineering team at our busy Bedford bakery. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys coordinating maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement, and making a real impact on operational performance.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for planning and scheduling preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities across a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Your work will help maximise equipment reliability, improve workforce productivity, and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to production.
What You'll Be Doing
- Planning and scheduling all maintenance activities in line with production requirements
- Managing maintenance work orders and ensuring jobs are completed on time
- Coordinating labour, materials, tools, parts and contractor requirements
- Supporting the development and optimisation of the site's CMMS system
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and producing performance reports
- Liaising with production and engineering teams to prioritise maintenance activities
- Driving improvements in planning processes, work request procedures and maintenance effectiveness
- Helping to develop asset hierarchies and maintenance strategies within the CMMS system.
Skills & Requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Coordinator or Engineering Planning role
- Strong understanding of maintenance practices within a manufacturing environment
- Experience using a CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and reliability
- Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar fast-paced production environment would be highly advantageous.
