Villiers Hotel is a spectacular 18th Century 49-bedroom hotel situated in the heart of the historic market town of Buckingham. Villiers has undergone a major refurbishment to all front of house areas and The Old Town Hall which provides all the meeting, serviced offices and function space.
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the team on a full-time basis (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional possible call out at weekends, although very rare) at £32,000 pa plus tips.
Purpose of RoleEnsure business is compliant with Fire, Life Safety legislation. Maintain and improve physical and aesthetics of the property. Deliver a safe and pleasant experience to our guests and suppliers.
Scope- Looking after the three buildings in the venue.
- Planned proactive works and compliance actions.
- Reactive maintenance works.
- Assessing need of outside contractors, equipment, and related costs.
- Physical organisation, care of equipment, assets directly related to the role.
- Communicate with all departments for good working environment and service.
- Daily, weekly, monthly compliance checks related to Fire Safety such as fire extinguishers, alarm tests.
- Daily, weekly, monthly Health & Safety Checks such as water flushing, first aid boxes, equipment.
- General Planned Preventative Maintenance checks and actions.
- Keep records and maintain Fire, Food, H&S folders updated.
- Review Risk Assessments.
- Manage contractors and schedules.
- Review contractors’ costs and quality.
- Search for new solutions.
- Report any issues to Management and suggest solutions.
- Keep expenses to the agreed budget.
- Research, contact suppliers for quotes when needed.
- Maintain tools, equipment in good working order.
- Storage rooms organised.
- Keep inventory monthly.
- Ensure hotel areas/rooms continue in order for events every day – proactive and reactive works.
- Ensure hotel looks presentable: painting, cleaning, fixing breakages, etc.
- Build relationships with clients, suppliers, and staff.
- Ensure rest of team comply with Life, Fire, Food and Health Safety at all times.
- Assist the General Manager with new projects requested by the company.
Education / Training: Technical school / Experience in general maintenance or plumbing, carpentry, etc.
Technical Skills: Carpentry, plumbing, electrics, plastering, or general all-around handyman.
Management Skills: Planning and organisation; managing priorities; working within budgets.
Background / Previous Experience: Maintenance (any specialty); ideally with Hospitality experience.
Other: Proactive; resourceful; good at finding different solutions and enjoyment in solving problems.
