Salaried GP

Villette Surgery is a friendly, forward-thinking GP training practice in Hendon, Sunderland, serving just under 6,000 patients within a close-knit and supportive team environment. The practice is looking for a committed GP to join for five to six sessions, working with a diverse and often underserved patient population including care homes and learning disability services. This role offers a manageable workload with shared on-call duties, strong clinical support, and excellent opportunities for professional development.

As a well-established training practice hosting GP registrars and fifth-year medical students, the successful candidate can become involved in teaching, mentorship, and developing specialist interests. Main duties of the job

• Delivering high-quality, patient-centred GP care to a diverse and often deprived population within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
• Managing routine and on-call clinics, providing care to patients in care homes and learning disability settings, undertaking ward rounds, and contributing to the practice's excellent QOF performance.
• Supporting the training of GP registrars and medical students, participating in in-house teaching, and developing specialist clinical interests within an innovative and forward-thinking practice environment.

Job responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred GP care through routine and urgent appointments.
• Manage a mixture of face-to-face, telephone, and digital consultations.
• Participate in shared on-call duties and support safe clinical decision-making.
• Provide care to patients within care homes and learning disability settings, including regular ward rounds.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective and coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to achieving high QOF and clinical governance standards.
• Support and contribute to the training of GP registrars and medical students.
• Attend and participate in regular clinical meetings, teaching sessions, and practice development activities.
• Contribute to service improvement, innovation, and the continued development of the practice.
• Develop and pursue specialist clinical interests where appropriate and supported by the practice.

Person Specification

• Fully qualified General Practitioner with Certificate of Completion of Training or equivalent.
• Registered with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise.
• On the NHS Performers List.
• Evidence of annual appraisal and revalidation (where applicable).
• Eligible to work in the UK (including work permit where required).
• Evidence of ongoing continued professional development (CPD).

Additional Requirements

• Full UK driving licence (if home visits are required).

Experience

• Experience of working in general practice.
