Job Purpose: We are hiring a multi-skilled shift engineer to facilitate all engineering activities associated with maintaining a 24hr manufacturing plant, to provide breakdown repairs, health and safety improvements, and deliver projects to improve plant performance and efficiency. Shift pattern will include days, evenings, and nights. The role will be a solo shift engineer working alongside shift technicians to keep the manufacturing plant running and to ensure all PPMs are carried through efficiently. Prioritising work and site issues is needed within this role to allow manufacturing to continue without falter.
Key Accountabilities:
- To maintain and support Health & Safety / Environmental requirements in accordance with internal Ideal Standard standards and legislative requirements, application of LOTO and required permit to work procedures.
- To respond to breakdowns and maintain / repair plant and equipment within the required time scale with the highest of standards and ethical behaviours.
- Supply routine breakdown and engineering project status information to engineering team Leader.
- To request where applicable for additional support for timely repairs from technicians, day shift and contract engineers.
- To ensure engineering interventions meet the required standards and best practice.
- Carry out investigations into problems or production development initiatives, individually or as a member of a project team.
- Contribute when required, to Plant Engineering projects.
- Contribute to the design considerations of equipment and processes within the plant.
- Identify areas to reduce maintenance spend and machine down time.
- Updating and control of engineering report documentation (Shires).
- Control of spares, from placement of order to stock control.
- Fire team & fire panel maintenance.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Electrical qualifications are a must with an additional 2 – 3 years relevant experience.
- Mechanical qualifications or relevant proven experience within pipefitting, welding and tooling works.
- PLC knowledge an advantage.
- Electrical engineers to provide evidence of 17th or above electrical legislation.
- Knowledge production processes to achieve conformance of H&S environment and quality.
- Knowledge of Engineering and Technology processes in the spirit of continuous improvement.
- Basic knowledge of systems and processes for managing ordering equipment / spares from placement of order to delivery of component/service.
- Conduct root cause analysis.
- Communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrate ability to apply ethical reasoning in decision-making and consistently deliver work to the highest standard.
- Applies analysis and judgement to assess performance against key measures, to decide between priorities and solve problems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Proficient in engineering software tools and TPM management platforms.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Permit management ensuring all legislation and company procedures are followed.
