VILLAGES was founded in 2016 out of a shared love of great beer and creating wonderful moments that bring people together.
Our home is tucked away in the historic railway arches at the heart of Deptford, a little sanctuary to collaboration and good times. Since our earliest days, the VILLAGES family has been welcomed in by Deptford\’s community.
We work everyday TO DO THINGS THAT BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER…
Duties
- Wort production on a 15hL 3 vessel system
- Cellar management (monitoring fermentations, cone dops, carbonating beers, CO2/DO checks)
- Yeast management (cell counts, viability and cone-to-cone cropping)
- Maintaining high brewery hygiene standards including cleaning and maintenance of brewery equipment, vessels, pipework, floors and general cleaning
- Accurate keeping of records
- Stock management assistance including ordering of ingredients, processing aids and chemicals
- Ability to lift 25kg sacks of malt and move 30L kegs
- Recipe design and development assistance
- Representing Villages at industry events
Experience and skills
- At least 1-2 years of brewing work experience
- IBD Diploma, Brewing MSc, Chemical Engineering or Food Science degree – or similar (preferable, but not essential)
- Ability to work independently as well as being part of a small, close-knit team
- An understanding of the brewing process, fermentation and brewing equipment
- Forklift licence (preferable, but not essential)
- A passion for good beer and community
- Competitive salary based on experience
