This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing and developing supported living services for adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health problems. The role ensures that all services are person‑centred, high‑quality, regulatory compliant, and contribute to the charity’s Brilliant Future Strategy and Green Care goals.
Location & Travel
West Midlands, Gloucestershire and Hertfordshire – covering Stourbridge, Grange Village & Oaklands Park, St Albans, Delrow, and Watford. The successful candidate will be based at one of the communities and will travel regularly between sites, including overnight stays for quarterly away days and other meetings.
Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire and develop high‑performing supported living teams in three communities, line‑managing direct reports and ensuring staff outcomes align with strategic objectives.
- Develop and execute operational delivery plans that deliver the charity’s strategy, focusing on continuous improvement, innovation and service quality.
- Manage a substantial operating budget, driving value for money, securing funding, and maximising income from commissioning and private market sources.
- Lead the implementation of a Theory of Change for Supported Living, ensuring co‑production principles are embedded and outcomes are monitored.
- Oversee regulatory compliance (CQC and equivalents), develop quality metrics, and lead contract negotiations with funding bodies.
- Represent the charity in stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and national forums, maintaining strong relationships with commissioners, health services and community partners.
- Champion a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, ensuring all staff and service users are respected and empowered.
- Own, develop and review policy and procedure suites, including safeguarding, data protection, health & safety and business continuity plans.
Qualifications
- Essential – Degree level education or equivalent; Leadership in Health and Social Care Level 5 or equivalent.
- Experience leading teams in not‑for‑profit/voluntary organisations delivering services for adults with learning disabilities and autism; strong understanding of rights and needs of service users.
- Track record in coaching, mentoring, budget management, and driving service redesign, lean thinking or similar transformation models.
- Knowledge of housing management, regulation, and CQC standards; experience managing large budget and multi‑site teams.
- Excellent communication skills, active listening, and ability to present complex information coherently.
- Experience in contract negotiation, performance measurement, and digital transformation initiatives is desirable.
- Professional Housing Qualification Level 5 or above, Safeguarding Adults Level 5 or above, and a Theory of Change methodology background are desirable.
