Role Description
The Bench Joiner role is a full-time, on-site position based in Kingston Upon Hull. The Bench Joiner will manufacture and assemble bespoke joinery items such as doors, frames, counters, and fittings according to technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Daily responsibilities include measuring and cutting timber, operating woodworking machinery and hand tools, preparing and finishing components, and ensuring all items meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The role involves working closely with the workshop team, interpreting joinery plans, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and supporting efficient workflow in the joinery shop. The Bench Joiner may also assist with loading and preparing orders for dispatch and liaising with supervisors to resolve technical or material issues.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in bench joinery, including accurate measuring, cutting, assembly, and finishing of timber components.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, joinery schedules, and specifications for bespoke manufacturing.
- Proficiency in using woodworking machinery and hand tools safely, with strong awareness of workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to work to high quality standards, with attention to detail, good time management, and reliable task follow-through.
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in joinery, carpentry, or a closely related field is highly beneficial.
- Experience in architectural joinery, doorsets, counters, or similar bespoke projects is an advantage.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate positively within a workshop and wider project team.
- Willingness to learn company processes and product ranges, and to adapt to changing project requirements.
