Engineer's Mate

We’re looking for an Engineer’s Mate to join our team, working on commercial and industrial network infrastructure projects across the UK and occasionally Europe. You’ll work as the second man in a two‑man team alongside an experienced engineer, helping deliver a variety of network infrastructure installations. We’re looking for someone with a good attitude, a willingness to learn and the motivation to get stuck in. Industry experience is a bonus, but reliability, hard work and the right mindset matter most.
What you’ll be involved in
- Installing structured cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a.
- Assisting with cable termination, Fluke testing and certification.
- Fibre optic installation, splicing and testing.
- Installing wireless access points (Wi‑Fi).
- Building, dressing and installing communications cabinets.
- Installing containment, including basket, tray, PVC and galvanised conduit.
- Reading site drawings and learning how commercial infrastructure projects are delivered.
What we’re looking for
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Someone reliable who turns up on time and gets stuck in.
- Someone who takes pride in their work and listens to instructions.
- A valid ECS or CSCS card as a minimum requirement.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A valid passport for occasional European projects.
- Flexibility to work overtime, occasional nights and longer hours when required.
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
- Experience is a bonus, but attitude is essential.
