Campus Security Officer - Mid Shift (1 position available) - For Fareham College

Vigilant are offering an exciting opportunity for a security professional to join our expanding relief team.

Scope

This is for a Full time Mid Shift Security Officer at Fareham College.

The Mid Shift covers the hours 08:30-14:30hrs Monday to Friday.

The hours are currently on review and may increase to 0800-1600hrs Monday to Friday. and Part Time 'Bench' positions covering regular ad hoc hours as well as providing support for holiday cover etc.

The post holder (DS SIA license) will be part of a 3 Officer team delivered varied security duties at Fareham College.

The ability to occasionally cover the early and late shift during holiday period will be an advantage.

During non-term time (Easter, Summer, Christmas) the Mid Shift stops.

During this period the Officer may take holidays or cover holidays taken from other team members.

There are no guaranteed hours during the non-term time.

The pay rate is currently £13.88 however this is pending a review.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide a prompt, polite and warm welcome to all visitors.
  • Anticipate 'clients’ needs/problems before they arise and that their expectations are met and exceeded each day
  • Be seen as a visible customer focused professional greeting and engaging with visitors.
  • Provide a consistent professional service at all times.
  • Communicate visitor/client arrivals to the relevant person promptly.
  • Maintain a high security awareness at all times
  • Undertake patrols and inspections in accordance with management instructions.
  • Proficient use of relevant communications equipment will require candidate to have good communication skills.
  • Ensuring all H&S policies are adhered to.
  • Ensuring that no un-authorised persons are permitted in prohibited areas.
  • Issue visitor passes using agreed processes and procedures
  • Maintaining an accurate record of any incidents that occur.

  • Clear, concise and confident communication skills which are customer service orientated with a very keen eye for detail.
  • Maintain and practice a high degree of confidentiality at all times
  • Computer literate
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to be vetted back 5 years or since leaving compulsory education.
  • Provide support to the wider when required.
  • Current SIA license. - DS Minimum
  • Drivers licence is desirable for this role
