Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing Videojet equipment at customer sites across Scotland and the North of the UK. This is a customer-facing field role where you will troubleshoot technical issues, install new equipment, and support customers to ensure their production lines operate efficiently. You will also collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities that improve customer performance and satisfaction. This role is ideally based in Central Scotland (Borders area), with flexibility to travel widely across the territory. This role involves regular travel across the region. Engineers typically start their day from home and travel to customer sites, with average travel times of 1–2 hours each way depending on location. Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on customer needs.
Responsibilities (typical day)
- Installing and commissioning Videojet equipment at customer sites
- Performing maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting on installed equipment
- Supporting product demonstrations and trials alongside the sales team
- Building strong customer relationships through excellent service and technical support
- Identifying improvement opportunities or service needs during customer visits
- Managing service cases from diagnosis through resolution with a strong sense of ownership
Essential requirements
- Experience in field service or technical service roles within an electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical engineering environment
- Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills in industrial or production environments
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the assigned territory
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple service tasks and customer needs
- Experience with industrial coding and marking technologies (CIJ, laser coding, labeling, or similar systems) would be advantageous but is not essential
