Role Summary
The Global Category Manager – Procurement is responsible for developing and executing category strategies to optimise value delivery across the organisation’s global supply chain. This role will drive procurement excellence, lead cross‑functional teams, and manage supplier relationships to ensure cost savings, quality improvement, and risk mitigation in line with business objectives.
Work Location: Bury St Edmunds/Hybrid - 3 days a week (after initial training period) in the office at Bury St. Edmunds.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
- Develop and implement global category strategies to deliver value, cost savings, and innovation across the assigned procurement categories.
- Lead cross‑functional teams in sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract management activities.
- Analyse market trends, supply risks, and spend data to identify and capture new opportunities.
- Manage supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between procurement strategies and business needs.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainable and responsible sourcing practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of procurement processes, tools, and best practices.

Knowledge and Skills

- Significant experience in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing in an international environment.
- Proven track record of delivering cost savings, value creation, and supplier innovation.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience working in cross‑functional and multicultural teams.
- Passion for procurement excellence and global collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, global environment.
- Proficiency in procurement tools and systems (e.g., e‑sourcing platforms, spend analytics).
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
