Are you a patient, resilient and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a school that values inclusive practice? Vida Education are working with a number of supportive primary and secondary schools across Lancashire who are seeking dedicated SEN TAs to join their teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs and learning difficulties.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement using positive, trauma-informed strategies.
  • Adapting learning materials and breaking down tasks to ensure accessibility for all learners.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCO and external professionals to implement EHCP targets.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who need consistency and encouragement.
  • Supporting pupils during transitions, unstructured times and throughout the school day.

Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Confident using de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches.
  • Ability to use visual supports, timetables, social stories and other communication tools.
  • Experience with sensory needs and supporting pupils with sensory processing differences.
  • Skilled in adapting tasks, simplifying instructions and scaffolding learning.
  • Calm, patient and emotionally resilient, especially in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external agencies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management and child-centred practice.
  • A nurturing, empathetic approach with a genuine passion for helping pupils succeed.
